Girl in Delhi, still a minor, shoots mother of her rapist in act of retribution

A shocking incident took place in north-east Delhi’s Ghonda neighbourhood on Saturday when a juvenile girl was arrested for reportedly firing at a 50-year-old woman. The victim, who has not been identified, is being treated at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

According to a police officer, the girl, aged 16 to 17, had previously filed a FIR against the victim’s son, Khursheeda, a resident of Subash Mohalla in north Ghonda, for allegedly raping her. In 2021, the girl reported the rape to the police, and Khursheeda was charged with multiple offenses, including administering a stupefying substance with intent to cause harm, rape, and violating the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

On Saturday evening, a police control room received a call that a girl had shot a woman at Subhash Mohalla. A team of officers, including the Station House Officer, rushed to the scene, where they found that the injured woman had already been taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by villagers.

According to the police, an investigation was launched, and it was discovered that the girl had entered Khursheeda’s grocery store and shot the victim with a handgun. The girl was quickly apprehended by the police, and the weapon used in the crime was also recovered. The victim was transferred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital after receiving primary care at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital.

The police have stated that legal action is being taken against the girl. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and many are calling for justice to be served in this disturbing case.
