Aim Civil : Things You Must know before you start preparing for UPSC

Aim Civil: Union Public Service is one of the most prestigious Job in India, to be a civil servant one needs to appear and selected via an exam conducted by the UPSC called “Civil Services Examination (CSE)”, also known as IAS (Indian Administrative Service) exam.

Aim CivilUPSE conducts the examination in two phase namely Prelims and Mains. The prelims examination is comparatively easy to crack, it comprises of multiple choice questions, whereas in mains, subjective questions are asked to thoroughly check the knowledge of aspirant.

An IAS officer is tested for these skills. (Aim Civil)

  • Decision-making and problem solving
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • General mental ability
  • Comprehension
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.)
  • Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.)
  • English Language Comprehension skills.

  1. No other career option gives you so much responsibility at the age of 25.
  2. You get to work on many diverse areas. One day you are analysing problems of health institutions, other day you will be dealing with education.
  3. Working in diverse area, you are not bound by one dimensional approach.
  4. There is debate over IAS being generalist but in practice keeping your generalist tag intact, you can specialize in 3–4 areas
  5. Satisfaction is instant and if you look back in the past 1 year, you will have something contributed to society.

Highest cutoff goes for IAS, followed by IPS, IFS and IRS.

Eligibility Criteria For CSE Exam 

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualification for CSE Exam

All candidates must have as a minimum one of the following educational qualifications:

  • Graduation degree from a Central, State or Deemed university.
  • Degree via correspondence or distance education.
  • Graduation from an open university
  • A qualification recognized by the Government of India as being equivalent to one of the above

CSE Exam Age Limit

  • For UR candidate minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum is 32 years.
  • For OBC  the upper age limit is 35, and for SC and ST the limit is 37 years.

Numbers of attempts for CSE Exam

  • General category candidates: 4
  • OBC category candidates = 7
  • SC/ST Candidates = unlimited
